ARTIST BIOGRAPHY:: WENDELL MCSHINE
Stitching together illusive dreams,memories and observations into a visual code of dramatic imagery, Wendell´s murals, installations, charcoal drawings, papel maché characters and canvases, tell a multilevel narrative that hunts the mind and provokes intimacy into self. His organic animations serve as a catalyst, the analytical ethos within his work tying together his compelling stories of sub-worlds. ¨It is where I can extend my questioning to the world within and around me, filtering fragments of my art back into the pure cycle of contemplation and creativity.¨
Living and working out of Mexico City, a place he calls ¨the free enchanted spirit¨, his onslaught of visuals carry with them influences of Mesoamerica, African, Caribbean Carnival folklore and urban street life, ride on a nostalgia derived from the artist birth place of the colonial diaspora, Trinidad. There is a symbiotic union linking in studio and community work in Mc Shine´s art making process. Making public art through campaigns such as Adidas Originals and imparting international hands on workshops through his brainchild Art Connect is how his vision of ¨making art accessible¨ takes life.

Artist Statement::
I believe that imagination is in constant evolution; it is important for me to create from a space thatembodies higher consciousness so that a positive unified experience can be shared amongst all.
My art brings the invisible/spiritual realm into the tangible. I explore by sometimes gazing into our human condition, it is my questioning that takes prominence over the resolve of what I create; cycles ofdeath and rebirth, stories of gods, technology versus nature, all of which constitute the ethos of how Iconstruct my visual investigations.
I am visual artist with an untamed compulsion to create. I reference great inspiration from dreams,cultural anthropology and the o-cult creating highly personalized visual dialogues which allow me todigest the many complexities of this occidental reality. I am in a constant pursuit of a free state ofexpression…Art belongs to everyone.
